There isn't much difference between the terms when the they are applied to maps. When an x-y co-ordinate system is overlaid onto a map with the x axis on the equator, the north latitudes, those lines parallel to the equator and which are drawn around the globe above it, or north of it, can be called northings instead of north latitudes. Got a link posted.
-- The angle between the equator and any location north of the equator
is a north latitude.
-- The angle between the equator and any location south of the equator
is a south latitude.
North latitude is north of the Equator, and is the northern hemisphere. South latitude is south of the Equator, and is the Southern Hemisphere.
Both latitudes of 90 degrees mark the north and south poles.
90 north latitudes + 90 south latitudes + 1 line of equator
The North Pole is at 90 North & the South Pole is at 90 South.
The desert and chaparral biomes are located close to 20-30 degrees north and south latitudes.
Horse latitudes or Subtropical High are subtropic latitudes between 30 and 35 degrees both north and south.
Both latitudes of 90 degrees mark the north and south poles.
At about 30 Degrees north and south latitudes.
Latitudes, the north/south coordinates.
90 north latitudes + 90 south latitudes + 1 line of equator
30 degrees latitude north and south of the equator
