No such controls are in place for unscientific approaches. The characteristic flaw in these approaches is the skipping of steps. Verification and peer review are the steps most often neglected. Unscientific approaches can lead to correct conclusions but, most frequently, lead to wrong or misleading conclusions.

Credibility is the issue.
