Like any elite police force, the FBI carries weapons. Their weaponry ranges from semi-automatic pistols, pump shotguns, fully automatic assault rifles and, in extreme circumstances, grenade launchers (usually used to launch tear gas or flashbang grenades into buildings).
And, like any police force with weapons, there is always the chance of collateral damage, as in a chance of someone getting killed accidentally.
Their priority is to protect the innocent and those who cannot protect themselves. However, unfortunately, there is the rare occasion where an innocent member of the public gets caught in the crossfire between the FBI and criminals.
