Most rivers in Jamaica are not navigable due to their shallow depths, swift currents, and rocky beds. While some rivers, like the Black River, allow for limited navigation for small boats and canoes, many others are unsuitable for larger vessels. Additionally, the rivers often feature waterfalls and rapids, which further hinder navigation. Overall, the river systems in Jamaica are primarily used for ecological and recreational purposes rather than for extensive navigation.
