Blinking of the eye is reflex action. It is very useful.it prevents your eye from getting damaged due to injury. The cornea is very delicate structure. It can be damaged very easily. Slight injury to the cornea is problematic. You need to protect the cornea from any external attack.

The main function is the Corneal Reflex. It's driven by the autonomic nervous system. It's not a persons choice when they blink. It's the reflex.

It takes all the dust and things that get onto your eye and store it somewhere and what u collected during the day turns to what people call sleep
