They can dislocate their jaw so can swallow large prey. Their mouth doesn't 'find' food per say but in the roof of their mouths snakes have something called a Jacobson's organ, when the snake flicks it's tongue it is essentially 'tasting' the air. As the tongue goes back into the mouth it rubs against the Jacobson's organ and the scents are converted into information. Using this the snake can tell whether prey is about or not

How is the mouth of a Burmese python adapted to finding and swallowing large prey?

The mouth of a Burmese python is adapted for finding and swallowing large prey through several features. Its highly flexible jaw structure allows the python to open its mouth wide enough to engulf prey much larger than its head. Additionally, the presence of backward-curving teeth helps grip slippery prey, preventing escape. These adaptations, combined with the python's ability to detect heat signatures from warm-blooded animals, enhance its hunting efficiency.

How the mouths of a python adapted for finding and swallowing large prey?

Their jaws are not fixed - like they are in other animals. A snakes upper jaw consists of six pieces, all connected by ligaments. The lower jaw is split into two - again connected by ligaments. When the snake swallows its prey, the ligaments stretch - allowing the snake to swallow food larger than its head.

Just the same as other snakes. Their top jaw is split into six pieces, connected by ligaments. The lower jaw is split at the front into two pieces - again connected by ligaments. This enables the snake to 'stretch' its jaws over prey much larger than the size of its head. Additionally - many snake species have heat receptors in their skin that allow the snake to locate warm-blooded prey - even in total darkness.

How does a burmese python eat?

Depends on the size of the python - an adult can eat something as large as a small goat !Diet consists of small mammals and birds, the larger the python the larger the prey which include pigs, dogs, cats and primates, etc., the python ambushes it's prey, holds it with it's teeth and suffocates the victim with constriction rather then crushing it, after swallowing the prey whole digestion takes many days to several weeks depending on the size of the prey.
