During extended bouts with diarrhea, the rectum may become inflamed; partly due to the liquid feces exiting at a high rate of speed, partly due to the increased wiping. A good way to counter this is to apply Preparation H or a similar rectal salve to the perimeter of the anus immediately after wiping, but before defecating again.
