Parasites benefit from being with the host all the while harming the host.

The host is nice and tolerant that it allows the parasite from it without it benefiting from the parasite at all.

Predator eats prey.

Parasites eat their hosts.

The similarity is the dependence.... of the predator and parasite....their survival depends on the prey and host to be there in order to feed them....

A lion is a predator, he may choose to eat a bird, a mammal, an insect, anything he chooses...

A parasite eats their hosts... usually they stick to one host...they feed until the host dies and eventually the parasite will die too of hunger once the host is consumed. The parasite also needs the host as it's home... as a source for warmth, etc.

The predator simply eats he prey...

I hope this answers your question.

A parasite is a type of organism that benefits at the expense of another organism, called the host. This kind of symbiotic relationship is called parasitism.

Different classifications will exclude bacteria (single-celled organisms with no nuclei ex. E.coli) and viruses (technically non-living things that require a host to reproduce ex.HIV).

There are many examples of this such as tapeworms, which feed on what their host eats. (As a side note some people actually purposely use tapeworms for this very reason because it will keep them thin and some believe that they are good for you. I do not want to be blunt but these people are wrong. DO NOT use tapeworms as a way to stay thin or healthy...) Or fleas that suck on the blood of their hosts (like dogs).

Because in the predator-prey, the predator gains from the prey, and a parasite gains from a host. The parasite and predator gain, but the host and prey gain nothing
