Squid are caught in nets and killed by suffocation. Cruel?????? Yes...
it is caught in the sea
Squid are slowly diminishing because of overharvesting. There is also the problem with their predators attacking them if they are caught.
Yes, a live colossal squid has indeed been caught in Alaska under an iceberg that was as big as Texas! Yes, a live one was caught by Japanese marine biologists two years ago, but they killed it in the process by dragging it up from its natural environment. By the time the squid was photographed it was already dying. Also, New Zealand fisherman caught a colossal squid in Antarctic waters.
A squid.. Largest "live" caught squid in the world.. Great find. Now visit www.Cupidfish.com and meet single anglers.
The word squid is usually used as singular or plural, examples: Singular: A squid was caught on my line. Plural: The restaurant had a tank of live squid on display. That being said, some people do squids as the plural form.
The squid breaks its food up into tiny pieces, it also digests food pretty fast, so unless the squid is caught with a full caecum, there wont be much recognizable contents of food.
No, no one has ever 'caught' a giant squid. People, many people actually have caught VIDEOS and PICTURES of the giant squid, multiple times. While the videos and pictures were caught in the natural habitat no one has sucessfully caught one :) Hope this helps!
Colossal squid are bigger and wider than giant squid, so they are probably heavier.Colossal squids (Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni) are not only bigger than the giant squids (Architeuthis dux), but MUCH heavier. The only colossal squid caught alive, by New Zealand fishermen, was 495 kg.The heaviest giant squid was «only» 275 kg (estimate)...
It's possible as jellyfish will eat pretty much anything that gets caught in their tentacles.
Every squid is a cannibal. Don't get caught by a cannibal. Is there a cannibal virus for computers yet?
From what I gather it's caught on the island(Befriend the dolphin to get there.) the south-east corner. (I haven't caught one yet. But I read this in a few places online.)
I don't know for certain if squid can eat octopus..but, it is known and documented that some species of octopus prey and feed on other octopus...so it would seem that large octopus would probably eat smaller squid and large squid would probably eat small octopus ( if they are caught and available) in the area they are hunting in. About two years ago, a Japanese scientist and film maker recorded a giant squid with a tentacle caught on their hook that I believe had fish bait? It could have been octopus bait? whatever it was, it was FREE FOOD for the squid ( which dropped the tentacle to get free of the hook). *A rule of thumb," Most animal consumers will hunt and prey on animal food that is easily caught. They tend to hunt prey they do not have to fight hard with since there are a 'lot of fish in the sea'." (smile) Marjorie Anne Wallace, science teacher
