1. Vietnam exists as a country today (prior to the war, there were two Vietnams). 2. From about 1975 to present, an all volunteer military exists (almost) through out the free world. 3. Adults in the US are age 18 today, instead of age 21; and this age has most likely influenced other nations with their laws. 4. Many of the hi-tech weapons/equipment used today (on the global war on terrorism) are "re-fined/improved" weapon's systems that were used (tested) in Vietnam. The F-22 Rapter is a replacement for the F4 Phantom; even though the Phantom was physically replaced by F-18 Hornets and F14 Tomcats, the Phantom had been the super jet that was used by ALL forces (Air Force/Navy/Marines)...the Rapter is intended to ultimately fulfull the same mission. 5. The Vietnam War brought back the "guns" into aerial warfare (dog-fighting). The Air Force's "RED FLAG" and the US Navy's "Top Gun" air to air combat schools were created by aerial combat over the skies of North Vietnam, in 1969. The art of aerial combat using guns would have been lost to the ages, had it not been for the Vietnam War. Prior to the war, the US Military was equipping and TRAINING it's airmen for MISSILE warfare and bomber interception ONLY!
