Andrew Jackson was a complex person. He had led a violent and adventurous life. He was quick to lose his temper, and he dealt with his enemies harshly. When he became President, his opponents sarcastically called him "King Andrew." Jackson intended to be a strong president by expanding the powers of the presidency.

Each president is different. Some have more success in domestic matters and some in international matters. It depends both on the personality and interests of the particular president and on the circumstances that arise outside his control to create issues to be dealt with.

Wilson figured that if the countries dealt with their own issues then a world war wouldn't happen. Unfortunately, President Wilson couldn't keep the US out of the European issues.
