Kids can often make friends easily, especially when they are younger, as there isn't so much awareness of social norms. As they get older they tend to have smaller groups of close friends and would find it more difficult to join in to a new group.

Why do children make friends with certain children?

I am 10 now and I have already like 18 BFFs. I'd say I am still a kid, and I make friends with kids because they have my personality or they are nice, and not gross. There are a lot of kids in my class that are gross and I never be friends with them. Thats the answer. And if someone is mean, don't be their friend. And also, kids just make friends with certain kids because they want to.

You should just naturally make friends and if you're nice to a person they'll become your friend. I'm sure you could even get away with "Want to be friends?" Younger kids are less judgmental than older kids and should be able to make friends easily.
