Yes, the Netgear R7000 Nighthawk is a router and requires a modem to connect to the internet. The modem acts as the bridge between your internet service provider and the router, allowing you to share the internet connection with multiple devices. You can use a standalone modem or a modem-router combination device, but the R7000 itself does not have built-in modem functionality.
Your isp modem is set in the bridged mode. To unbridge your modem, plug your network cable from your PC directly into your tower, other end directly into the modem, and type in an IE browser page 192.168.0.1. Your isp page should come up then in there should give you an option to bridge and unbridge the modem. This process is to tell your modem that multiple connections are to be hooked to it thru a router .bridge mode is for router installation. Unbridged is for modem installation only (1 p/c). You more than likely have a static ip address set on your computer so your going to have to find the properties for your tcp/ip and make sure it is set to obtain IP automatically for both sections.

What describes the external IP address that is obtained by a router through a cable or DSL modem?
Modems typically operate in several modes, including bridge mode, router mode, and access point mode. In bridge mode, the modem passes data directly to a connected device without routing, effectively acting as a simple conduit. Router mode enables the modem to manage IP addresses and provide network services to multiple devices. Access point mode allows the modem to extend a network wirelessly, connecting additional devices without routing capabilities.
I would reboot the modem and the router. If that did not work, I would reinstall the router and then look for updates. Then I would reset the modem.
