The Toba eruption was massive. It was actually twice as big as Yellowstone's most recent super eruption and 12% bigger than Yellowstone'biggest super eruption, 2 million years ago. It is often called Yellowsone's "big sister." when it erupted it created a lake and wiped out 60% of the human population.
It varies depending on the size of the eruption. Many small eruptions won't have any significant effects beyond the crater. Very large eruptions can cause major damage dozens of miles away.

They didn't prepare. The Lake Toba eruption was 74,000 years ago, before the development of civilization. The people around at the time were hunter-gatherers. They didn't know what a volcano was or how to prepare for an eruption.
volcanoes that contain small amounts of carbon dioxide<<<<WRONG!! VOLCANOES THAT HAVE LARGE AMOUNTS OF SILICA!!!! ^ wrong again A supervolcano (Caldera) has a VEI (volcanic explositivity index) of up to 8 namedly 'The Yellow Stone Caldera' and 'Lake Toba.' Lake Toba Erupted 2800KM3 of ash and lava.
Yes. These are volcanoes that produces extremely large, catastrophic, explosive eruptions, ejecting huge amounts of material. Although scientists have found deposits from supervolcanoes, none have erupted in recorded history. The last super eruption was about 75,000 years ago at what is now Lake Toba in Indonesia.
Most likely. The volcano has continued to erupt regularly since its last massive explosion in 1883.
When Huaynaputina erupted in 1600, 2,000,000 people died not by the eruption, but the Russian Famine in 1601-1603. But the real volcano that killed more people happened 75,000 years ago when Lake Toba erupted. After the eruption,it triggered a volcanic winter that it almost wiped out the human race
Lake Toba Sumatra
That is not true about Lake Toba. They recently discovered Lava in the Super Volcano and it is considered restless. Yellowstone could not hold a candle to what Lake Toba can do the world.

Lake Toba is a body of water that also doubles as a super volcano. The lake is found on the Indonesian island known as Sumatra. The island is located west of Indonesia.

The toba eruption was ultra plinian.

It already is, and feeding the growth of Samosir Island, in the center of Lake Toba. The Toba volcano is expected to erupt again in about 300,000 years. Plan on being out of town,
The list is too comprehensive to state them all. The easiest answer would be to say as long as it is not exclusively aquatic - fish etc, then it may live on or in or around a volcano. Lake Toba in Indonesia was once a super eruption. Now it is a massive lake hundreds of feet deep. So even aquatic life can live within a volcanic crater - if its dormant or extinct.
