Then no one would get mail on Saturdays. It is one of the things the USPS has going for it, as most of the others don't work on weekends at all. People are used to getting mail on Saturdays, and to cut it out would eliminate additional services that help keep the PO in business. And the think that at one time, in Britain, mail was delivered twice a day!
