I know this can be done with two characters: Link and Toon link. You can adjust the colour of the character to make them wear different clothes, different colour, e.t.c. I think the way to do this is to choose a character, and press up or down on the wii controller/nunchuck. I think I might be wrong, as I traded in my smash bros brawl game a long time ago.
