We don't know it could have been some time after Jesus' birth it could have been on the night.
In the gospel of Matthew it says:
Matthew 2:1 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem,
Matthew 2:9 When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was.
Matthew 2:11 And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
From these verses we can see it was after Jesus was born and Jesus is called a young child and Mary and Jesus were in a house
The Magi (three wise men, or kings) arrived at the stables on the night Jesus was born. But there is some dispute that Christmas (celebration of Jesus birth) was on the 25th December! Some consider that December was used to cover a pagan ritual with a Christianity one, a common practice. Also, there have been changes in the calender the west adopted.
it came from the Christan's when the 3 wise men followed the star
Three Wise Men
Some Christmas symbols are mangers, Christmas trees, lights, the 3 wise men, etc.

Certainly not, as the bible says, the wise men came from far away countries on camels.
Christmas is a Christian holiday to celebrate the birth of the baby Jesus as the new born king. We give presents to honor the three gifts the wise men gave, and we put a star, or angel to commemorate either the star that led the wise men to the baby and the angel for the angel who told the wise men to follow the star
They can be known as the wise men , 3 kings and the magi
