Shortest incubation - around 11 days for quite a few small passerines. Longest incubation - no simple answer as some birds can stop incubation from time to time and the egg(s) will still hatch, but over 80 days has been recorded for kiwis and albatrosses, including periods of desertion. Emperor penguins continuously incubate their eggs and incubation takes 9-10 weeks.
