The union of two sex cells is called fertilization. In humans, fertilization occurs when the sperm comes into contact with an ovum and penetrates it. Of the millions of sperm that come in the vicinity of the ova, only one enters the ovum.
The order would be: Meiosis -> sex cells -> fertilization -> zygote -> mitosis Meiosis creates sex cells, called gametes, which combine during fertilization to create a zygote. The zygote then undergoes mitosis.
Fertilization is the joining of egg cell and sperm. It typically happens in the fallopian tubes.
Fertilization in humans occurs when a sperm cell penetrates and fertilizes an egg cell, resulting in the formation of a zygote. This typically takes place in the fallopian tube. The zygote then undergoes cell division and eventually implants itself in the uterus, leading to pregnancy.
Males determine the sex of a child in humans because they carry both X and Y chromosomes, while females carry two X chromosomes. During fertilization, the sperm from the male can carry either an X or a Y chromosome, determining the sex of the child.
by fertilization
Fertilization.
Yes they can. But if boys were only made, then humans sure wont last long.
External fertilization
Where sex cells are produced: meiosis Where sex cells unite: fertilization
Sperm only live up to a maximum of three days. But they also have to REACH the egg which they can do within an hour. Therefore fertilisation could happen in one hour after sex, or if you had sex yesterday, the sperm could be lying in wait for the egg to come to them!
There are two sex chromosomes: the X chromosome and the Y chromosome. During fertilization, the mother always gives an X chromosome and the father gives either another X chromosome or a Y chromosome. Therefore, all humans have at least one X chromosome.
