That is entirely up to you. If you swim, it will affect both the health of your hair and the color. Pool water is full of chemicals that will lighten your hair.
Also, if you are an avid swimmer, you may find your hair become easily tangled. If this happens, it is a chlorine build-up. There are products sold to remove this but they can be drying.
