depends on a few "factors" guage of strings thin strings usually a month, heavy about 2 before one breaks for me..if you clean them or not and how much you experiment with tunings. Other than that just how much you play and I guess style as say black metal you're probably gonna break a heavy E faster than a blues player. Also whammy bars can break strings much quicker.

Me personally I wait until one breaks before I switch the set, keep the old ones too, you may need them down the road! Others wait until the new string sound is gone so its all you really.. message me if you need more help as some stuff may not have made sense to beginners.

Depends on a lot of factors. Some types of strings last longer than others. Some people like the brighter sound of new strings, which means more frequent changes. If this isn't you then the strings will last a long time, many months. After months, they wont stay in tune as well, and that's definitely a reason to change them. Also, remember a set of strings is a relatively cheap thing to buy and you should ALWAYS have an extra set on hand in case one breaks.
