Mating in Anaconda's occurs during the Rainy season during April & May. Males identify receptive females and then copulate with them. Courting & Mating occurs almost exclusively in water and may sometimes happen on Land. Mating is followed by a gestation of around 6 to 7 months. Females give birth to live young. Litters are usually around 20 to 40 offspring but upto a 100 individuals may be born in a single litter. Babies are around 70 to 80 cms long at birth and receive no parental care. They are on their own right from day one.
