A baby CAN hold its breath under water, but only up to a certain point. It's called mammalian diving reflex. New born babies have this reflex, and will hold their breath and open their eyes under water - though I admit I do not know for what length of time. There are even classes that encourage such "swimming" with parent/newborn teams to try and instill a love of swimming at such a very young age.
That depends on what kind of baby you are talking about. Baby fish can certainly breathe under water. Baby mammals cant breathe under water.well it depends that's what i learned din my class of fcs.:) or else

Animals that are born under water are animals who most likely can breathe in the water. For instance, tadpoles ( frogs) start off born in the water and then grow until they can go in and out of the water. Examples of animals born under water: Fish Frogs Whales SharksA fish is born under water by marwa
Baby Mantee's are born on the beach at night and only the female that is giving birth and after the baby is born the mom puts the baby on its back and they go into the water and back to there under water cave (witch also has air pockets.) The baby's are very helpless for the first month. They feed the babys with their selves.
Baby manatees are born live birth from their mother. They have birth under water, and if it takes to long then they can die.
If a baby is born underwater using the birthing method known as "Water birth" (a method of giving birth, which involves immersion in warm water.) it can survive underwater momentarily until you take it out of the water and takes its first breath. This is not to say that a baby born in water becomes capable of extended survival underwater like mythical mermaid.
Dolphins are born tail first because.......they might die before they got to the surface to breathe!! They are mammals like us, and do not have gills.
Yes of course, baby rabbits breathe as soon as they are born.
Babies don't breathe the water in the womb. Their mothers breathe for them, and supply them with oxygen through the umbilical cord. Babies don't start breathing until they are born. Humans, well no mammal can breathe water, because our lungs can't get any oxygen from it. Although they do the same job, gills work in a slightly different manner, which allows fish to get oxygen from the water the way we get it from the air.
The unborn child does not breathe in their mother's womb. Instead they get oxygen dissolved in the blood supply from their mother through the umbilical cord (a sort of pipe which connects to the baby's tummy). After the baby is born it can breathe for itself and the cord is not needed anymore and so is cut and tied by the midwife. This eventually shrivels up and falls off leaving just the "belly button".
When the baby starts to breathe and cry, there will be good circulation and gives good color to to the skin.
yes they can. It is muffled, like when someone talks when we are under water, but they can hear it! no,when we are under water and alive with senses in our brain to detect and compare, is assumed we hear, but for a baby that is not yet born, can't hear anything
