Technically, a veterinarian can be out sick for as long as he/she wants to be, provided he/she isn't worried about not being paid for the time off. Veterinarians get a wide range of paid sick days, ranging from none to 5 per year, possibly with the ability to accrue from year to year. There are also national and state laws mandating sick leave without pay for serious illness or injury, which at least prevents the veterinarian from being fired for being in a car accident.

You feed it, or take it to the veterinarian to see what's wrong
You take him to your veterinarian for a check-up.
Call your veterinarian and explain what is wrong, they should be able to assist you.
