Herpes typically shows symptoms with in 2-30 days of being exposed to the virus. Some people can have herpes for months or years with out knowing it because their immune system can suppress it which keeps herpes from showing symptoms.
If you suspect you have it you can always ask your doctor to give you a blood test for it. That is the best way to test for herpes with out showing any signs or symptoms.
