Food is not digested in the large intestine it is digested in the small intestine the purpose of the large intestine is to reabsorb water
Maybe I misunderstand your question, but... ... as the small and large intestine are joined to each other (exit small intestine and enter the large intestine), the food moves between the two almost instantaneously.
It has to be long so that food can be given more time to be broken down. To absorbed quicker, the small intestine has to be narrow.
i dont know the answer but its not the small intestine. The small intestine is a long folded tube inside the body attached to the stomach where nutrients in the food are absorbed.
small intestine absorbs nutrients, while the large intestine absorbs water from waste products
Food is passed from the stomach, and it goes through the long tube called the small intestine. In the villi it absorbs nutrients and sends it to the bloodstream, the small intestine is the biggest part of the digestive system, and the food is send to the large intestine where it is made into excrement.
That is the small intestine. (The small intestine is actually longer than the large intestine.)
The Small Intestine is 7m long
Small intestine - and the duodenum, too, can be treated as also part of the small intestine

Small intestinesThe small intestineThe intestines are a canal that goes from the stomach to the anus and allows for the digestion and absorption of food.
