they can stay above water for mostly, forever! They are mammals and are land mammals, but just choose to live their life in water. they're not a fish, though. All they need is to keep their bodies moist so they don't get dried, because their skin isn't made for the dry land. but, they can stay above water as long as we humans can mostly, except they just need to have their lower body in the water so their skin doesnt dry
