I was wondering the same thing. My husband had surgery two days ago and he's still having sweats, chills, nausea, and a very low fever. He's absolutely miserable. I called the Doctor and they said it was still effects of the anesthesia! The doctor didn't seem at all concerned.

It depends, usually, no more than two or three days.

You have to remember as with any drug, the drug must run its course. IT WILL ALWAYS EVENTUALLY RUN ITS COURSE, WHICH IS TO SAY BE PASSED THROUGH LIVER AND KIDNEYS. The amount of time that this takes certainly will vary because its based on vitality, weight, metobolsim rate etc... Be assured any unwanted side effects will always subside in the normal course of the drug(s) passing naturally through your body's filtration system.

It will depend upon the anesthetic agents and drugs used during the procedure. Generally people recover in a few hours but may feel drowsy and nauseated for 24 hours
