In the US House of Representatives each member has a two year term and to stay on board, they must run for election on this two year cycle. There no limits on how many times a person can remain as a Representative. In fact, the greater one's tenure, the better the chances of becoming a committee chairperson and, or making oneself a reliable expert in any particular field or specialty, such as in foreign affair.
