Although the USA declared war on Germany in April, 1917 it was far from ready to do any actual fighting in Europe. Active participation in the fighting started not earlier than February, 1918. So all in all, the USA fought along with the Allies for a period of 9 months until November, 1918 when Germany surrendered.
