The Allies had a keen interest in the battle for Stalingrad because the Allies needed the time to gather resources for the upcoming invasion of the European mainland and had the Germans persevered over the Russians and the Russians were defeated then it would have deep and long range effects upon the continuation of the war leaving many to speculate about it's ability to triumph over Axis forces .

Russia and Germany fought in the battle of Stalingrad. Russia owned Stalingrad, and then lost a lot of lives holding on to it, but lost the battle. Russia won in the long run because Germany lost a lot of soldiers and his supplies were drained after the battel.
The battle of Stalingrad (August 1942-Feb 1943) had one main effect on WW2. The soviets stood strong and defeated the nazi's. The battle of Stalingrad was a turning point for WW2. If the nazi's won stalingrad it would have been very likely that they won.
