Before Lewis met up with Clark, he began the expedition on August 30, 1803 in Pittsburgh PA. Lt. William Clark would offer to join Lewis on the expedition weeks later on October 13, 1803 at Camp Dubois (in present-day Indiana). From there, they sailed down the Ohio River towards St. Louis. In spring 1805, they continued to the headwaters of the Missouri River, struggled across the Continental Divide, and headed west along the Salmon, Snake, and Columbia Rivers to the Pacific. They landed at the mouth of the Columbia River, Astoria, Oregon. The expedition then ended on September 23, 1806 upon their return to St. Louis from Oregon.
If you believe that the expedition began in Pittsburgh, then it took 2 years and 25 days.
If you believe that the expedition began when Clark joined then it took 1 year 11 months and 11 days.
If you don't believe me that the expedition began in Pittsburgh and NOT St. Louis, then follow the related link to the Louis and Clark Journals' first entry. As we all know, the common American history textbook likes to smudge the details.
18 months
it took thwm dour years to reach the ocean
Vasco Núñez de Balboa's journey across the isthmus of Panama to the Pacific Ocean took about a month, beginning in September 1513 and culminating in his sighting of the ocean on September 25, 1513. This expedition covered approximately 150 miles through difficult terrain and dense jungle. Balboa's trek is notable for being the first European expedition to reach the Pacific from the New World.
That depends entirely on where in the Pacific to where in the Atlantic.
The Pacific Ocean is not 'long'; it is wide. But the Pacific is much wider [maximum 12,300 miles] than the Mississippi is long [2320 miles].

A long long way!
Sacagawea was with the Lewis and Clark Expedition for its entire duration, which lasted from May 1804 to September 1806. She joined the expedition as a guide and interpreter, playing a crucial role in facilitating communication and navigating the terrain. Her presence helped ensure the group's success in reaching the Pacific Ocean and returning safely.
Lewis and Clark did not discover the Pacific Ocean, they knew it existed long before their expedition. They were in fact assigned to explore the newly purchased Louisiana Territory and find the "easiest way" to the Pacific. They certainly weren't looking for a "Northwest Passage."
California is on the est rim of Pacific Ocean. It has a long coastline
The ocean west of Virginia is a long way away- it is the Pacific.
The Panama Canal links the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. The Panama Canal is 48 miles long. It is the fastest way to get from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean.
