On August 9, a B29 bomber aircraft dropped an atomic bomb on Nagasaki. Six days later, Japan announced its surrender, ending their involvement in World War II.
According to official records, about 2400 emergency landings were made on the island by B29's and presumably, by their P51 escort fighters.
How ? - by using two B29 planes the Enola Gay and Bockscar . First upon the Japanese city of Hiroshima and later upon the city of Nagasaki .
'Enola Gay' a B29 Superfortress. James Doolittle. I'm thinking it was the same aircraft used at both Hiroshima & Nagasaki.....
