They need to be in the same cage for about 3-5 weeks. If has been only 3 weeks and they are weaned then they can be taken out.

You should take the boys out at 3 weeks old otherwise its possible they could impregnate their mother or sisters, the girls you can keep with her as long as you want to, or until they are weaned. The weaning process is different with lots of different guinea pigs it can be 3 weeks or 4 or 5, it just depends on the mother. But normally any time after 3 weeks you can take them out or give them away.Remember the boys take out at 3 weeks for sure, the girls you can keep in a little longer. (just try to make sure who you are giving them to will care for them properly:) The babies should stay with the mom if you want you can give it TO A FRIEND no one else because you cannot trust anyone but your friend.:)

Babies need to stay with their mommy for 6 to 8 weeks so she can feed them her milk although babies can eat hay and dry food soon after they are born but mommy milk should still be givin to the pigs but be careful for the mother and its boy children not to be in the cage with the mother more then 9 weeks because the boy pig will make its mother pregnant again

You must separate the male babies from their mother at 3 weeks of age otherwise they will breed with their sisters and mother. This will lead to inbreeding, which can cause deformed babies to be born, also it can easily kill the young females will the stress of the birth. It is a good idea to keep the male brothers together as they will form a bond, which is hard to have between males without them fighting. You can take the females off their mother at about 4 - 5 weeks or keep them together.

IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED THAT YOU BREED YOUR GUINEA PIGS AS YOU COULD LOSE BOTH MOTHER AND BABIES.

Female guinea pig babies (pups) should stay with their mother for 4-7 weeks to evenly distribute the weaning process. Male pups have to be removed at 3-5 weeks of age, as they could mate with their sisters or mum and you would have more than you bargained for. BUT MAKE SURE THEY ARE WEANED!!!

Are other female guinea pigs ok in the cage with guinea pig babies and the mother?

I would not recommend it. Just have the Mother Guinea Pig in with her babies separately. Sometimes the other guinea pigs can get excited and accidentally stomp the babies to death so best to keep Mom & babies separate.

Why baby guinea pigs look after themselves?

It's different for every animal, but typically, babies do wean themselves. I have animals and though most wean themselves, sometimes you have to separate the baby from the mother for a period of time and then you can put the baby back in. At least it's easy to do that with guinea pigs...

How does your guinea pig know that your the mom?

You will know if a guinea pig loves you when you are holding it and it coos or makes little clicking sounds when you enter the room the guinea pig is in and it moves to the side of the cage closes to you making squealing or chittering sounds You know your piggy loves you when she is happy to see you, gives little squeaks when she hears you, and gives you "Piggy Kisses" When you hold her! She might nibble a bit, but to her it's affectionate, in her mind she's grooming you, not biting.
