Baby rats start eating solid food at the age of 2 weeks old. They should be with their mother for 6 to 8 weeks. After that you MUST separate the males and females or they could mate, even though they are brother and sister.

ratties can leave mamma ratty at five to six weeks, but at five weeks the males should be separated out because they might impregnate their siblings or mother
