A well cared for chicken can live a long time. With proper care and nutrition a chicken can live past 10 years. Of course they will not lay eggs or be useful for much as meat but if your hen reaches that age, she is no longer just livestock, she is a pet. Most chicken however do not survive to a ripe old age and an average hen on a farm will last about 4 to 6 years.

Although flamingo chicks can have high mortality in the wild, adults can be fairly long-lived. Flamingos typically live 20 to 30 years. In captivity, flamingos often live beyond 30.
A flock.
Chickens live in small barns called coops.
Many chicks are artificially incubated and have no "parents" in that sense of the word. Chicks that are hatched under a hen will remain close to the hen as part of the flock for as long as they live. Chicks introduced to the flock at about 3 or 4 months old are assimilated into the flock within hours.
