Compact refrigerators usually last for a while. Many of them also have multi-year warranties in case they do break.

The majority of refrigerators, yes. These refrigerators only need electricity to run, not water. However some modern refrigerators do have a water line connected to them and constantly cycle fresh water, the water is near-frozen then fed into the refrigerator via vents as condensation. These refrigerators are usually huge, however, and are mostly used for commercial purposes, though some can be purchased for the home. You are fine as long as you don't have one of these huge commercial refrigerators.
