my goldfish once lived 10 years in my fish bowl.
Ok. So yea, they can live a long time in a bowl. BUT not as long as they should wich is about 20 years. Also, goldfish grow and grow (a single adult goldfish needs 15-20 gallons with another 10 gallons for additional goldfish). They produce massive amounts of waste and need lots of oxygen wich bowls do not provide. Fancy goldfish get about 10" and common goldfish get even larger. Plus, they will get ammonia poisoning and won't live a happy life. People say that since they are in a bowl, they won't grow as big. That's like saying a St. bernard puppy won't grow in an aparment! Keeping them in bowls does stunt their growth and makes it slower (but they do grow what they are supposed to as long as the bowl doesn't kill them first....) and can cause problems with eternal organs. So just say no to "goldfish bowls".
goldfish will not live as long in a bowl as in a filtered tank. With a filter the average is 8 to ten years but without we are looking at around 3 to 5 years.
well it depends, you have to feed it and clean its bowl.you can not feed it alot because fish are not very intellegent they eat,and eat and eat and then they get to full and a fishattack and then bye bye birdy so really there is not a answer for that question
10 yr old girl
If water is cleaned and the fish is cared for properly they make it up to 15 years for sure. Extra ordinary care and rearing in a pond they will reach even 20-25 years. The longest time a goldfish lived (ever documented) is the "Tish" (name of the gold fish) which reached 43 years!!!
A bowl fish survives 2-3 years, so please buy him a tank. Ppl say 10 gallon for one gold fish.
CERTAINLY FOR GOD SAKE NOT IN A BOWL PLEASE....
Just ask yourself, how many days you can live in a closet?
Not very long as they are not meant for small bowls. One fancy goldfish needs at minimum a 20 gallon tank. Betta fish are best for those that are new to fishkeeping as they can be housed in smaller tanks/bowls and do not produce anywhere near the amount of waste that a goldfish produces.
I had a golfish ina bowl he only lasted a week.so no you can NOT EVEN HOLD MORE
no, because they need lots of space if there ganna grow so big.
The cheapest way to keep a goldfish is to keep it in a fish bowl.........as long as the bowl is big enough the fish will be happy there.
It's cruel to keep any type of fish in a goldfish bowl . So don't even try please . Fish that can live with Moors. Guppies (only if there is a heater in the tank) Common goldfish or shubinkin . And any other cold water fish and livebears
It is NOT very right to keep a goldfish in a bowl. Not only do they become bored and unhappy, but it can cause health problems and stunt the fish's growth. However, the VERY least you can do for a fish in a bowl is the biggest bowl you can find. Also, goldfish NEED some sort of filter to live a reasonable amount of years, and filters cannot be put in bowls. I recommend at least a 5 gallon tank for your fish. Really though, there is nothing special you can do for a fish in a bowl.
Fancy goldfish need 10 gallons per fish while common and single tail goldfish need 20 gallons per fish. The fish need more space, and they need to be around 3 years old before they are old enough to breed. The fish will be around 4 to 5 inches long w/o tail when they are the right size to breed. A bowl is not the proper home for a goldfish they are too large and messy of fish to live in a bowl. Once they breed you will have around 100+ fry (baby goldfish) that will be 1,000+ gallons of water that will be needed to raise them.
They will live to be happy and healthy fish just as long as you take care of them.
The world record of how long a goldfish lives is 43 years.A normal goldfish lives about for like 10-20 years if in good care but that means you'll need a big fish tank, good filtering and regular water changes. If the fish is kept in a bowl the average life span would be about 6 weeks.
No, it is ok for goldfish to live in a gold fish bowl, but you should be able to look at the bowl and tell if it is too crowded.... depending on the size and amount of water in comparison to the number of fish that is :-)
None Even a single goldfish will outgrow a fish bowl very quickly and with no filtration will be dead in no time instead of the quite long life time when kept in proper aquaria. Just do it its cruel and unecessary.
As long as that plastic bowl is large enough to fit in x amount of fish you have and you fill it with an appropriate amount of water.
Usually a goldfish will live to be 1 month to a year but sometimes some goldfish live to be 3 years old others are even more lucky that they can live to be over 20a gold fish can live for 3 weeks........................................................................................................................... O.o they live a lot longer than 3 weeks. If that is how long yours are living then you are definitely doing something wrong. The longest living goldfish was 43 YEARS old. Putting them in a bowl shortens there life considerably but you still get a few years out of it.
A little less longer than regular goldfish.
