The babies stay in the nest until they are 6-8 weeks old. At that age they will follow the mother and learn food foraging skills. At about 6 months of age they may leave and live on their own. Some, however, will stay with the mother until the following spring before they leave.
They may leave the nest almost immediately after birth or may remain bear the mother for a few days. However, they receive no care from the parent.
As long as they stay babies is how long they stay babies.
Many of them leave at the age of 5-6 months but some may stay with the mother through the first winter and leave when nearly a year old.

In my area, the babies start running with the parents in about 2 weeks and then after 2 or so months, they seem to be gone...
They only stay with the female, the male has nothing to do with raising the young. Some will leave the mother in the first fall. Others will spend the winter with the mother and leave in the spring the following year.
The closer it gets to her having the babies she will start making a nest for the new babies and hiding food so she can stay with the babies and not have to come out.
The first sign of a rabbit having her babies is when she starts to pull out her fur and make a small nest....then the rabbit will stay in the nest for a while...if u want u can look but do not touch the babies...if u touch them they will get ur sent and she will kill them
