I would expect to get 2 to 3 years out of them. In the wild some live in creeks that dry out regularly. I have observed these spawning ( in the creek in my back yard ) madly as the water levels drop. This would indicate to me that they have evolved to have a fairly short life-span.

I currently have Australian Rainbows that are almost 5 years old. They've been kept in a 20 gallon aquarium with no heater. Low temp has been about 50ºf and high of 85ºf.
