Homes are well decorated, with some having major displays of lights outside. Villages, towns and cities are well decorated too. There is lots of shopping done in the run up to Christmas and so the towns and cities are busy with people. There is a lot of people out doing other things, like carol singing. Lots of people will have Christmas parties with colleagues or friends. On Christmas Day, people will have Christmas dinner. Christmas is of course 12 days long. In Ireland, like in many countries, Christmas Day is celebrated widely and then the celebrations ease up for a few days before another peak for New Year's Eve and the early hours of New Year's Day. Over the next few days, it does not feel like Christmas at all. The 6th of January is celebrated by some people, as it is the Epiphany and last day of Christmas.

Christmas in Ireland is the same length as it is in every other country. It is 12 days. People tend to stop celebrating only after a few days, and that is the same in Ireland as it is in other countries. So Ireland doesn't really celebrate Christmas any longer than any other country.
Because most people in Ireland are Christians, so naturally Christmas is going to be celebrated in Ireland.
