  • diploma program (typically three years, not recommended for individuals who do not have an already existing degree)
  • associate degree (two years as a full-time student once the student starts the professional phase of the program)

Nurse practitioners hold a master's or doctorate degree. The master's degree can take approximately two to three years to complete post bachelor's degree. The actual length of time depends on the specific program of study; the credit load carried per semester, and provided the student takes the degree as prescribed by the college or university. The PhD would take approximately four years post bachelor's to complete. The actual length of time depends much on how long it takes a student to prepare and defend their dissertation, which is an individual student project advancing an original view point on a topic of the students choosing with extensive supporting research and approved by a designated committee.
4 years but its worth it!!!!
