Typically you should wait at least 30 days before changing the tongue bar that you were pierced with. A shorter surgical steel tongue bar may be put in to replace the original tongue bar after swelling in the tongue goes down.

The longer the better, if you only charge it for a short time it will not last very long every time you want to charge it again, it will only run for short periods even if you leave it on charge for days. 24 hours should suffice.
I heard you have to wait three weeks before you can even take the first tongue ring out. or maybe it was five weeks... but anyway dont take it out for at least 2 weeks and then see what happens. but dont leave it out too long or else it will close up.
