There is no such thing as third-degree murder in Canada. Juvenile offenders can be sentenced to a maximum of 10 years confinement for first-degree murder. However, at 14 years of age, an offender charged with murder or manslaughter is automatically tried as an adult unless they can show cause why they should be tried as a juvenile. If that person dies due to the injuries cause from the attempted murder then you can be charged with murder. But if you are convicted of attempted murder prior to that, double jeopardy would prevent you from being convicted of murder
