It actually depends on what you're using it for. For example, a camera will drain more energy than a remote control.

The self discharge rate is how much power a battery cell loses even if its not in use. The avergae self discharge rate is between 8 and 20 percent of totally power over a year period. Energizer is closer to 8 while generic is closer to 20.

Panasonic lasts the longest.. it worked really long. it lasted 5 hours and the energizer battery only lasted 3 hours.. we did an experiment checking which battery lasted the longest by taking pictures on a camera until the battery died.
Energizer batteries have proven to be a better battery brand than the others. They last long and they have a wide range of battery products. Based on experience, they outlast most brands of batteries.

Whether it says it will or not, battery chargers will charge any battery, as long as they are for the same voltage. The charger puts out a set voltage, it doesn't know whether the battery is Energizer or not.
