Some myths say that for one third of the year Persephone stays with Hades, and for two thirds of it with her mother.
Persephone is believed to stay on Earth during Spring, Summer, and Early Fall. She returns to the Underworld in late fall and that is what causes winter.
Die, this was winter.
Plants die, autumn begins and winter reigns.
When Hades kidnapped the goddess of argricultures' daighter Persephone. she was greived and all the trees and plants died out and it was grey skies. Persephone ate 3 things from the underworld, meaning she had to stay there for 3 months. (December, January, Febuary)
Well from what I remember from the story I read,Persephone's mother Demeter, who was the god of harvest and seasons and stuff, had gotten the chance to see Persephone for 6 months and is happy, which is why we have Summer and Spring, then she must return to the underworld,in which at this time Demeter is sad and angry, that's why we have Fall and Winter, and why we have a change in seasons Hope this helped, Sharmaine

Well in the story of Demeter and Persephone Persephone has to stay in the underworld for 6 months so when Persephone is on earth it is warm and things grow and harvest but when Persephone is in the underworld nothing grows and it is cold
Every year, Persephone spends the autumn/winter (when plants die) with Hades, and returns with spring/summer.
Persephone stays in the Underworld for half of the year (six months) and is allowed to return to Olympus for the other half.
Persephone was born in a meadow on Earth
Persephone is a Goddess of the Earth, and the Goddess of the Underworld.
On Earth and Olympus, Persephone is the Goddess of Spring.
Demeter and Persephone were both goddesses of the earth. Gaia (Earth) through her daughter Rhea, who was the mother of Demeter and grandmother of Persephone.
Spring (Persephone returns, Demeter allows the Earth to give life) Winter (Persephone as Queen of Underworld/Dead, Demeter mourning) Death (Persephone/Demeter - separating decent) Life (Persephone/Demeter - on Earth)
Persephone and Hades are still married.
Both Demeter and her daughter Persephone were goddesses of the earth and growing things.
