As with EVERY engine on the road, there is NO guaranteed miles. It all depends on how often you change your oil, what kind of gas you use, and of course how you drive your car. There is ONE issue with the Jaguar 4.0 V-8 engine... as you all know it's the PLASTIC chain tensioners. They should be replaced whether you have a problem or not around 80,000 miles! You can call it "PMCS" Preventive Maintenance and Care Service. If the tentioner breaks, there is a 90% chance that it will damage the engine. Once it's replaced, and if you use SYNTHETIC 5-30 OIL, minimum 91 Octane gas (which is very important) due to high Compression Ratio of 10.75:1... EVERY car with a compression ratio of 10 and higher SHOULD use a high octane gas. Keep this in mind, it's only 2 dollars extra per fill up compared to filling with 87 octane gasoline, but IT WILL prolong the life of your engine dramatically! It burns much cleaner, and your engine gets the power it needs to move those pistons with ease! And don't forget to replace those spark plugs at 100,000 miles! Once it's all done, ENJOY the beautiful Jag!

Long Enough
The average male jaguar is about 7 feet long
Basically, never. It will last as long as the rest of the engine.Basically, never. It will last as long as the rest of the engine.
i was told they only last 300,000
300000 miles
Normally they will last the life of the engine. They are replaced during a complete overhaul of the engine.
yes as long as the engines of both cars were both the same engine. IE: both were SOHC. Or both were DOHC.

The alternator for these cars is the same as long as they both have either DOHC or SOHC engines. The SOHC engine uses a lower output alternator than the DOHC, so make sure you specify DOHC or SOHC when looking for an alternator at a parts store or wrecking yard.
it lasts almost 5 hours long
