It takes one year for the earth to make a revolution around the sun.

Depending upon your reference point, it takes 27.3 days for the moon to orbit the earth if you use the earth as the reference point. This is called the sidereal month. If you use the sun as the reference point, then it takes 29.5 days for the moon to orbit the earth. This is called the synodic month.
