In Texas, a shoplifting charge can stay on your record permanently, unless you are able to have it expunged or sealed. Expungement is possible in certain circumstances, such as if the charges were dismissed, you completed a diversion program, or you were acquitted.
1 year
In the state of Washington, a shoplifting charge can stay on your record between two years and forever. It will all depend on the amount, the degree and which court it went through.
Criminal records are permanent.
yes it can as long as a charge has already been made against the person or bin caught shoplifting.
IN THE U.S. - - Unless the record is "expunged" by legal action, offenses ALWAYS remain on your record. Exception: charges levied against a juvenile are no longer available (except to law enforcement) after they become an 'adult.'
If the offense occurred after you turned 18 it will be a permanent part of your criminal history record.
A crime stays on your record forever, unless expunged. That is a big incentive to not commit crimes.
Shoplifting is a Larceny crime. Unless it was committed prior to your becoming an adult, it will always remain a permanent part of your adult criminal history unless expungement is requested and granted.
If it was after September 2004, then it will last forever as it is classed as a "recordable offence".
How long does a false charge stay on your record?
Until your 18th birthday, and then your juvenile reocrd is sealed to the public.
