It should be no more than 15mins.
Unless it is a permanent filter mounted in the fuel tank change it every 75,000 miles.
ACTUALLY THE FUEL FILTER IS IN THE FUEL TANK AND THEY ARE BASICALLY PERMENENT ALTHOUGH THEY WILL EVENTUALLY CLOG UP YOU SHOULDNT REALLY NEED WORRY ABOUT THE FILTER.
U can have the fuel pump and fuel filter both changed in bout 1:30 and thats taking ur time.
The fuel filter is in the gas tank. It has been industry practice for a long time. You might as well replace the fuel pump and fuel sending unit while you're in there.
If it is the 4.3 carb, the fuel filter is about 2 inches long and located at the end of the fuel line where it goes into the carb. Easy to change, just unscrew the fuel line where it goes into carb and you will see a filter with an orange pleated center.
Impossible to predict. One thing that can cause the fuel pump to fail prematurely is a partially clogged fuel filter. Change the fuel filter every 50,000 miles if it is replaceable.
As long as you are putting quality fuel into the tank the in-line filter will last quite a while. I had 100,000 miles on my stock filter with no problems and when I changed it at the 10 year mark the fuel came out clean. So 10 years or 100,000 miles is my advise
The fuel filter is located inside the fuel tank. You have to remove the rear seat which is easily done. Remove the fuel and return lines which connect to the top of the sender unit. Undo the screws on the sender unit cover plate. (The fuel filter is connected to the base of the fuel pump which is in turn connected to the base of the sender unit). The Filter is fixed to the pump with a small metal retaining ring. The filter is a mesh type about 5 inches long. It is a pain to have to replace, mainly due to the restricted movement when disconnecting the fuel and return line. The mesh filter costs around $65 Aust and will take around 30 minutes to change. I have had to change my filter 4 times due to the common problem of them clogging. It is easily achievable with a screwdriver, good long nose pliers and a cold beer. . Cheers
50,000 miles or permanently if it is a permanent filter in the tank.
fuel filter should be under car, driver side should be about 4 inches long. it is a in line filter
It is 18 years old and it is an electronic part. They eventually wear out. You have been lucky it lasted this long. Be sure and change the fuel filter when you change the pump. It can also be a blown fuse or defective fuel pump relay.
The fuel pump may not be pumping fuel up fast enough. Have your fuel pump pressure tested. Change fuel filter, exc.
